Born in Joburg, South Africa, Dudley spent his youth concentrating on rugby, which he played at a provincial level throughout his high-school career. A back injury (and the prospect of cauliflower ears), prompted the move to basketball, where Dudley joined fellow Rocco Paul Jesinskis in the provincial schools team. Dudley continued to shoot hoops throughout his time at the University of Cape Town, but work and social pressures kept him away from the court during his first few years in London.
After much arm twisting by Paul, Dudley joined the Roccos in 2007 and has not looked back since.
